Manufacture a Revised Leather Jacket from Your Own Sample

Bring a jacket sample that you own or are authorised to use when you want a new version with specific changes. We can use the physical garment to discuss construction and fit, then define your materials, branding and revised details for manufacture in China. The aim is to preserve the features you like while making each change visible, measurable and reviewable in the new sample.

A Reference with Clear Changes

Relia develops sample-based jacket projects around your own design rights and production brief. Relia uses the existing garment as a construction reference, while your change list defines the new version. Material identity, finished dimensions and inside details are considered separately so the quote does not rely on appearance alone.

Record the Garment Before Altering It

A physical sample brings useful information that a photograph misses: shell flexibility, weight at a seam, pocket depth and how the lining moves. We treat the supplied jacket as a design reference and describe changes separately. When its original leather differs from your chosen material, the new sample needs to show how that change affects the same silhouette.

Separate the Reference Build from the Revised Build

A physical jacket reveals collar roll, seam placement, lining access and the way several layers meet at an edge. Relia reviews those details before translating the requested changes into pattern and assembly decisions. Increasing sleeve room, for example, can affect the armhole connection as well as the sleeve width. A material change also needs a construction review because its thickness and handling may differ from the reference.

Construction sequence
01Reference record

Photograph the outside and inside and identify the features you want to preserve.

02Change map

Locate each requested change and connect it with a dimension or construction detail.

03Revised sample

Build the proposed materials and changed pattern into one complete garment.

04Comparison review

Compare the reference and new sample side by side and approve the resulting version.

Materials Need Their Own Specification

A photograph cannot fully communicate leather thickness, backing or handfeel. Provide a swatch or describe the material requirement separately. We support factory sourcing to your specification and processing of materials you supply.

The Revised Sample Shows the Difference

Review the new sample against your change list as well as the original garment. The goal is your revised design. Compare silhouette, pocket position and movement rather than treating visual similarity as the only measure of success.

An illustrative project decision

A Roomier Sleeve Can Retain the Original Look

For an illustrative revision, keep the accepted cuff, shoulder styling and pocket layout while reviewing upper-arm room and armhole balance together. Adding width only at the sleeve seam may not solve restricted movement at the underarm. The revised sample should demonstrate the intended movement while retaining the visual details you wanted to preserve.

Check the Changed Areas Closely

  • Relia reviews the areas affected by your changes alongside the features marked for retention.
  • Use the same measuring points on both garments; compare front balance, sleeve shape and pocket placement as well as chest width.
  • Review the inside when a lining, pocket bag or fastening has changed.
  • The approval should identify the revised garment itself rather than referring only to the original sample.

An Order Brief Replaces Guesswork

After the revised design is settled, use the latest material list, measurements and sample details for the order enquiry. Include quantities by colour and size, packing needs and the destination. Commercial terms are confirmed for that project by email.
