Leather and PU Jackets with Original Back Artwork

Original back artwork can become the main identity of your leather or PU jacket, so plan it with the back panel, seams and garment size. We can discuss the design and a suitable project-specific application method. This page explains artwork placement, assembly access and sample review, helping you connect the graphic idea with a manufacturable jacket version.

Artwork Connected with the Back-Panel Build

Relia develops custom jackets with buyer-specified artwork and material choices. Relia connects the back design with the actual panel construction and inside finish, so the artwork is reviewed as part of the garment rather than as a separate flat image.

Material and Artwork Are Reviewed Together

Large artwork must work with the back panel's shape and movement. Seams, shoulder contours and folds can interrupt a graphic. Place the artwork on a finished-size panel outline first, then review the proposed application on the selected surface. The material and print or embroidery sample establish the result more clearly than a screen mockup alone.

Connect the Artwork with the Back-Panel Construction

Relia reviews artwork scale and position against the back seams, shoulder area and intended garment sizes. The proposed application method needs to suit the actual surface and design. Work that requires access to the reverse side of the panel is sequenced before lining and final closure. The complete sample then shows the artwork on the garment shape, with any seams or folds affecting its appearance.

Construction sequence
01Place the graphic

Locate the artwork on front and back drawings with visible garment seams shown.

02Review the material

Confirm the actual shell surface and the proposed application route for the design.

03Sequence the work

Plan panel access and any reverse-side finish before the garment is closed.

04Review worn appearance

Assess the graphic on the complete jacket and intended size reference.

Review the Graphic at Garment Scale

Look at the complete sample from the rear and side. Check how the artwork sits when the jacket hangs naturally, alongside the intended body length and fit.

An illustrative project decision

Separate Colour Approval from Placement Approval

For an illustrative back-art project, a material application sample can settle colour and finish while a full-size layout settles position. The completed jacket then connects both decisions. This prevents a correctly coloured small proof from being treated as approval of a different scale on the garment.

Close Review Clarifies the Edge Finish

  • Relia reviews the artwork position, scale, orientation and visible edges on the sample.
  • Check the relationship with seams and the way the graphic reads when the jacket is worn and moved.
  • Inspect the inside construction where the method affects it, then keep the accepted artwork version and placement reference with the garment specification.
